The Raffin Group at EPFL focuses on understanding brain function and dysfunction at the systems level by combining causal brain stimulation approaches and neuroimaging techniques. Their research aims to unravel local and large-scale brain mechanisms underlying sensorimotor integration and learning, identify beneficial versus maladaptive plasticity processes following injury or lesion, and develop neurotechnology-based interventions to promote recovery of functions. The group's work is enabled by methodological frameworks such as the online coupling of Transcranial Magnetic Ultrasound Stimulation (TM US) with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or ElectroEncephaloGraphy (EEG), and applying dynamic signal processing and network analyses.
