The Bio-Imaging and Optical Imaging Technology Platform (BIOP) at EPFL focuses on providing instruments and expertise for solving challenging biological questions through modern light microscopy. By bridging life sciences and engineering, BIOP aims to investigate fundamental fields jointly. The platform offers training in microscopy and image processing, including practical courses on optimizing confocal imaging and using Fiji for everyday tasks. BIOP's expertise includes a wide range of microscopy techniques such as widefield, confocal, spinning disk, lightsheet, superresolution, and lifetime imaging, as well as image processing capabilities like workstations, deconvolution, deep learning, and custom workflows. The team consists of diverse staff members with backgrounds in industry and academia, dedicated to assisting the scientific community in their microscopy and image analysis needs.
