The School of Life Sciences at EPFL fosters education, research, and innovation at the interface of engineering and biology. It offers Bachelor and Master programs in Life Sciences Engineering, a Master program in Neuro-X, and four Doctoral programs. With 58 research groups in 5 institutes, the School operates at the intersection of biology, basic sciences, computer sciences, and engineering. EPFL scientists at the School of Life Sciences have unveiled groundbreaking methods using biological nanopores and deep learning to detect protein modifications, opening new avenues in disease diagnostics. The School also hosts the EPFL Life Sciences Early Independent Research Scholar (ELISIR) program, which provides exceptional early-career scientists with the opportunity to become independent group leaders in life sciences.
