The Bitbol Lab, part of the Laboratory of Computational Biology and Theoretical Biophysics at EPFL, focuses on understanding biological phenomena through physical concepts and mathematical tools. They investigate the impacts of optimization and historical contingency in biological evolution, spanning from biomolecules to microbial populations. Their research includes analyzing protein sequence data, modeling antibiotic resistance evolution, and studying the sequence-function mapping in proteins. The lab combines analytical work, numerical simulations, and data analysis to gain insights into protein function and evolution, collaborating with experimentalists to enhance their research.
