Marc LaperrouzaMarc est collaborateur scientifique et chargé de cours à lEPFL et à HEC Lausanne. Marc a obtenu un doctorat à la London School of Economics (réforme du secteur des télécommunications en Chine), une maîtrise en gestion internationale (HEC, 1997) et une licence en gestion à HEC Lausanne (1993). Il a étudié le Mandarin et l'économie à Fudan University, Shanghai (1993-1995) et a passé un semestre à la Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, Canada (1996). Avant de rejoindre le Collège des Humanités, Marc a travaillé à l'EPFL sur les industries de réseaux (CDM, 2007-2011). Il a été directeur adjoint et conseiller spécial du Evian Group, un institut de recherche rattaché à IMD. Il a en outre travaillé pour la division Asie de Swiss Re et pour le McKinsey Business Technology Office. Il intervient de manière ponctuelle au niveau Bachelor, Master ou Executive dans les universités romandes. Marc est invité de manière régulière dans les médias suisses (RTS Radio et TV, Le Temps). Il est le fondateur et président de l'association bonopro. Il s'est vu décerner le Swiss Re Milizpreis 2011.
Gaétan Jean A de RassenfosseGaétan is Assistant Professor Tenure Track in Science & Technology Policy at EPFL. He joined the Institute of Technology and Public Policy at the College of Management of Technology in late 2014. Prior to that, he was a research fellow then a senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne (Australia) from 2010 to 2014. He was affiliated with the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research at the Faculty of Business and Economics. Gaétan obtained a PhD in Economics from the Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management in 2010.
Maher KayalMaher Kayal received M.S. and Ph.D degrees in electrical engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) in 1983 and 1989 respectively. He has been with the Electronics laboratories of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) since 1990, where he is currently a professor and director of the Energy Management and Sustainability" section. He has published many scientific papers, coauthor of three text books dedicated to mixed-mode CMOS design and he holds eleven patents. His technical contributions have been in the area of analog and Mixed-signal circuits design including highly linear and tunable sensors microsystems, signal processing and green energy management. Emad OveisiDr Emad Oveisi is a senior scientist at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Electron Microscopy (CIME), EPFL.
Emad received a BSc in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (2005) and an MSc in Materials Science (2008) both from the University of Tehran (Iran). He graduated with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at EPFL in 2014 for a thesis on the "Three-Dimensional STEM Imaging of Dislocations" under the direction of Prof. Cécile Hébert. The PhD thesis at the Electron Spectrometry and Microscopy Laboratory (LSME), served as an introduction to many of the advanced microscopy techniques that have proven to be a platform for his research career. A post-doctoral research at the centre for electron microscopy gave him the opportunity to peruse a cutting-edge research on one of the most modern aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopes.Since the inauguration of the Energypolis campus of EPFL in Sion, he has been the manager and reference scientist of the electron microscopy platform of EPFL-Valais, working with 9 research groups and more than 200 researchers. In addition to this core responsibility, he provides advanced microscopy consulting and service to EPFL scientists and assist their research to the highest level possible.
Emad Oveisi’s research focuses on the application and development of novel electron microscopy techniques, with emphasis on 3D imaging of crystal defects, as well as the precision measurement of materials properties using aberration-corrected S/TEM. In 2018, he received the prestigious Microscopy Innovation Award for inventing “Single-shot three-dimensional electron imaging”, a novel technique that enables 3D imaging of in situ dynamics.
In 2016 Emad was elected as an interim representative for the scientific staff ("corps intermédiaire") to the Council of the Institute of Chemistry (ISIC). Since 2019, he is a member of EPFL Teachers’ Council (CCE) and has been elected as one of its four bureau members. This role allows him to be exposed to new ideas and pedagogical challenges, as well being involved in discussions with the Vice Presidency of Education (VPE) and other teaching organisations for defining teaching strategies at the EPFL.
