Katarzyna PierzchalaKatarzyna Pierzchala completed professional studies at the Faculty of Physics at University of Silesia and at the Medical University of Silesia, Poland. She obtained her BSc degree (2003) and MSc degree (2005) in Medical Physics from the University of Silesia, Poland. In 2010 she obtained her PhD degree in physics (biomedical physics) “Oxidative Stress on Human Cells in the Presence of Nano-Sized Titanium Dioxide” from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne (EPFL), Institute of Physics of Complex Matter, Switzerland. In 2013, she joined, as a Scientist, the Laboratory for Functional and Metabolic Imaging at EPFL, where she implemented the electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR) and optical and fluorescence microscopy to study the brain redox and antioxidant state in rodent models of human diseases ie. hepatic encephalopathy and the magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of intact living cancerous cells to characterize their metabolic profile and metastatic potential and observe changes of MRS signals intensity associated to cells metabolism after in vitro chemotherapy to provide better understanding of the mechanisms of drug-cell interaction, with a view to offer appropriate treatment.
Cyrille HibertCyrille HIBERT received his diploma in Physics in 1994 and his PhD in 1998 from University of Orleans (FR). He then held a post doctoral position in GREMI laboratory at the University of Orleans in collaboration with Alcatel Vacuum Technology and ST Microelectronics, working in deep anisotropic etching of silicon with an Inductively Coupled Plasma reactor. In May 2000 he joined the EPFL-Center of Micro-Nano-technology where he was in charge of the plasma etching activities. He left EPFL in October 2003 for a sabbatical year to join the CFF group at NMRC (Ireland) now called Tyndall Institute. He worked on developing plasma processing. In October 2004, he came back to EPFL-CMI to be in charge of etching and nanotechnology activities (FIB and future ebeam litho).
Christophe MoserChristophe Moser is Associate Professor of Optics and the Section Director in the Microengineering department at EPFL. He obtained his PhD at the California Institute of Technology in optical information processing in 2000. He co-founded and was the CEO of Ondax Inc (acquired by Coherent Inc.), Monrovia California for 10 years before joining EPFL in 2010. His current interests are ultra-compact endoscopic optical imaging through multimode fibers, multimode fiber lasers, retinal imaging and additive manufacturing via volumetric 3D printing with light. He is the co-founder of Composyt light lab in the field of head worn displays in 2014 (acquired by Intel Corp), Earlysight SA and Readily3D. He is the author and co-author of 75 peer reviewed publications and 45 patents.
