Vocal pedagogy
Vocal pedagogy is the study of the art and science of voice instruction. It is used in the teaching of singing and assists in defining what singing is, how singing works, and how proper singing technique is accomplished. Vocal pedagogy covers a broad range of aspects of singing, ranging from the physiological process of vocal production to the artistic aspects of interpretation of songs from different genres or historical eras. Typical areas of study include: Human anatomy and physiology as it relates to the physical process of singing.
National Center for Voice and Speech
The National Center for Voice and Speech (NCVS), is a multi-site research and teaching organization dedicated to studying the characteristics, limitations and enhancement of human voice and speech. The NCVS is located in Salt Lake City, Utah with the Lead Institution located at the University of Utah. NCVS is also a Center at the University of Iowa where it has laboratories in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. In addition, the NCVS has collaborators in Denver and at many institutions around the United States.
Voice projection
Voice projection is the strength of speaking or singing whereby the human voice is used powerfully and clearly. It is a technique employed to command respect and attention, such as when a teacher talks to a class, or simply to be heard clearly, as used by an actor in a theatre or during drill. Breath technique is essential for proper voice projection. Whereas in normal talking one may use air from the top of the lungs, a properly projected voice uses air properly flowing from the expansion of the diaphragm.
Voix humaine
La voix humaine est l'ensemble des sons produits par le frottement de l'air des poumons sur les replis du larynx de l'être humain. La voix inclut la parole et le chuchotement, le cri, le rire et le chant. L'étude des sons produits par la voix humaine s'appelle la phonétique. C'est une des branches de la linguistique. Dans le domaine de la médecine, l'étude de la physiologie et de la pathologie de la voix et les soins de santé qui lui sont apportés sont du ressort de la phoniatrie.
Chant
Le chant représente l'ensemble de la production de sons musicaux produite par la voix humaine. La personne qui génère le chant est appelée chanteur, chanteuse, ou vocaliste. Le terme s'étend cependant aussi aux vocalisations et plus généralement aux signaux sonores émis par certains animaux dans un contexte de parade nuptiale ou non (chant des cigales, vocalisation des oiseaux, chant des baleines). Le mot «chant» vient du latin «cantus» comme « chant d’un humain, d’un oiseau, son d’un instrument, poème ».
