Damdami Taksal
The Damdamī Ṭaksāl, also sometimes referred to as Giani Samparda, Jatha Bhindra(n), or Sampardai Bhindra(n) is an orthodox Sikh cultural and educational organization, based in India. They are known for their teachings of vidya as well as gurbani santhya. Its headquarters are located in the town of Mehta Chowk, approximately 40 km north of the city of Amritsar. It has been described as a seminary or “moving university” of the Sikh countryside. In 1706, after the Battle of Muktsar, the army of Guru Gobind Singh camped at Sabo Ki Talwandi.
Rule by decree
Rule by decree is a style of governance allowing quick, unchallenged promulgation of law by a single person or group of people, usually without legislative approval. While intended to allow rapid responses to a crisis, rule by decree is easily abused and is often a key feature of dictatorships. When a state of emergency, such as martial law, is in place, rule by decree is common. While rule by decree is easily susceptible to the whims and corruption of the person in power, it is also highly efficient: a law can take weeks or months to pass in a legislature, but can be edited quickly during ruling by decree.
Népotisme
Le népotisme est la tendance de certains supérieurs ecclésiastiques, évêques et papes, et par extension de certains dirigeants d'autres institutions, à favoriser l'ascension des membres de leur famille, ou plus généralement de leur cercle rapproché, dans la hiérarchie qu'ils dirigent, au détriment des processus de sélection ordinaires basés sur le mérite. Par extension, le terme désigne une tendance à accorder des avantages à des relations, des amis proches, voire à des membres d'un groupe d'origine, ethnique ou religieux commun, indépendamment de leurs qualités .
Aizawl
Aizawl (pronaɪˈzɔːl; Mizo: ˈʌɪ̯.ˈzɔːl) is the capital of the state of Mizoram in India. Aizawl was officially established on 25 February 1890. With a population of 293,416, it is the largest city in the state. It is also the centre of administration containing all the important government offices, state assembly house and civil secretariat. The population of Aizawl strongly reflects the different communities of the ethnic Mizo people. In 1871–72, the disorderly conduct of Khalkom, a Mizo Chief, compelled the British to establish an outpost that later became the Aizawl Village.
Wadia family
The Wadia family is a Parsi family from Surat, India currently based in Mumbai, India. The family rose to wealth in the mid-1700s as shipbuilders serving the British East India Company as the latter established its sway over India. During the declining years of the British Raj, Neville Wadia, scion of the main branch of the family, married Dina Jinnah, only child of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. Despite being the only descendants of the founding father of Pakistan, the family chose to stick to their mills and factories in India rather than emigrate to the new country.
Bharat Mata
Bhārat Mātā (en hindi, du sanscrit Bhāratāmbā भारताम्बा ; अम्बा ambā signifiant « mère »), également connue sous le nom de Mother India en anglais, est la figure allégorique nationale de l'Inde, en tant que déesse mère. Elle est généralement représentée comme une femme vêtue d'un sari couleur safran, tenant le drapeau de l'Inde. Elle est parfois accompagnée d'un lion. Kalyani Devaki Menon, dans son ouvrage Everyday Nationalism: Women of the Hindu Right in India, affirme que « la vision de l'Inde en tant que Bharat Mata a de profondes implications pour la politique nationaliste hindou ».
Indian Military Academy
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) is one of the oldest military academies in India, and trains officers for the Indian Army. Located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, it was established in 1932 following a recommendation by a military committee set up under the chairmanship of General (later Field Marshal) Sir Philip Chetwode. From a class of 40 male cadets in 1932, IMA now has a sanctioned capacity of 1,650. Cadets undergo a training course varying between 3 and 16 months depending on entry criteria.
