PramanaPramāṇa (sanskrit IAST; devanāgarī: प्रमाण) « moyen de connaissance valide, légitime», est un terme de philosophie indienne (hindoue, bouddhique, jaïne, etc.) qui correspond dans la philosophie occidentale à l'épistémologie. Le pramāṇa forme un membre d'un tripode (tripuṭi) orbitant autour de la Pramā (connaissance valide) : Pramātṛ (le connaisseur), Pramāņa (moyen de connaissance), Prameya (objet de la connaissance). Dans les Yoga Sūtra de Patañjali, pramāṇa est l'une des cinq sortes de Vṛtti (modification du mental).
SautrāntikaLe Sautrāntika (sanskrit ; pāli : Suttavādā ; chinois : Jing-liangbu ; Japonais : Kyō-bu) est l'une des écoles du bouddhisme hinayana. Sautrāntika signifie ceux qui suivent les sûtras, à savoir les sûtras de « la première roue », ceux du bouddhisme ancien, par opposition au mahayana. Triṃśikā-vijñaptimātratāThe Triṃśikā-vijñaptimātratā (Sanskrit; ), also known simply as the Triṃśikā or occasionally by is English translation Thirty Verses on Manifestation Only, is a brief poetic treatise by the Indian Buddhist monk Vasubandhu. It was composed in the 4th or 5th century CE and became one of the core texts for the Yogācāra school of Mahāyāna Buddhism. In it he touches on foundational Yogācāra concepts such as the storehouse consciousness, the afflicted mental consciousness, and the three natures, among others.
Moggaliputta-TissaMoggaliputtatissa (ca. 327–247 BCE), was a Buddhist monk and scholar who was born in Pataliputra, Magadha (now Patna, India) and lived in the 3rd century BCE. He is associated with the Third Buddhist council, the Mauryan emperor Ashoka and the Buddhist missionary activities which took place during his reign. Moggaliputtatissa is seen by the Theravada Buddhist tradition as the founder of "Vibhajjavāda", the tradition of which Theravada is a part as well as the author of the Kathāvatthu.
SangitiparyayaSangitiparyaya (संगीतिपर्याय, IAST: Sangītiparyāya) or Samgiti-paryaya-sastra (संगीतिपर्याय शास्त्र, "recitation together") is one of the seven Sarvastivada Abhidharma Buddhist scriptures. It was composed by Mahakausthila (according to the Sanskrit and Tibetan sources) or Sariputra (according to the Chinese sources). The Chinese recension was translated by Xuanzang: T26, No. 1536, 阿毘達磨集異門足論, 尊者舍利子說, 三藏法師玄奘奉 詔譯, in 20 fascicles. Structurally, the Samgiti-paryaya is similar to the Dharma-skandha, though earlier, as the latter is mentioned in the former.
DharmaskandhaDharmaskandha (धर्मस्कन्ध) or Dharma-skandha-sastra (धर्मस्कन्ध शास्त्र) is one of the seven Sarvastivada Abhidharma Buddhist scriptures. Dharmaskandha means "collection of dharmas". It was composed by Sariputra (according to the Sanskrit and Tibetan sources) or Maudgalyayana (according to Chinese sources). The Chinese edition was translated by Xuanzang, and appears as: T26, No. 1537, 阿毘達磨法蘊足論, 尊者大目乾連造, 三藏法師玄奘奉 詔譯, in 12 fascicles. It begins with a matrka as a summary of the topics, showing its antiquity, as these were supposedly only assigned by the Buddha himself.
DhatukayaDhatukaya (धातुकाय, IAST: Dhātukāya) or Dhatukaya-sastra (धातुकाय शास्त्र) is one of the seven Sarvastivada Abhidharma Buddhist scriptures. Dhatukaya means "group of elements". It was written by Purna (according to Sanskrit and Tibetan sources), or Vasumitra (according to Chinese sources; five people named Vasumitra were known to the Chinese sources, but it is not clear which one of these authored Dhatukaya). It was translated into Chinese translated by Xuanzang: T26, No. 1540, 阿毘達磨界身足論, 尊者世友造, 三藏法師玄奘奉 詔譯, in a short 3 fascicles.
VijnanakayaVijñānakāya (विज्ञानकाय) or Vijñānakaya-śāstra (विज्ञानकायशास्त्र) is one of the seven Sarvāstivāda Abhidharma Buddhist scriptures. "Vijñānakāya" means "group or substance of consciousness". It was composed by Devasarman (according to both Sanskrit and Chinese sources), with the Chinese translated by Xuanzang: T26, No. 1539, 阿毘達磨識身足論, 提婆設摩阿羅漢造, 三藏法師玄奘奉 詔譯, in 16 fascicles. Vijñānakāya is the first Abhidharma text that is not attributed to a direct disciple of the Buddha, but written some 100 years after the Buddha's parinirvana, according to Xuanzang's disciple Puguang.
PrakaranapadaPrakaranapada (प्रकरणपादशास्त्र, IAST: Prakaraṇapāda-śāstra), composed by Vasumitra, is one of the seven Sarvastivada Abhidharma Buddhist scriptures. Its commentary the Panca-vastu-vibhasa (五事毘婆沙論 T 1555) by Dharmatrata, was also translated by Xuanzang.
