Giovanni da Verrazzano, en français Jean de Verrazane ou (rarement) Jean Verazani, en latin (selon sa signature) Janus Verrazanus, né vers 1485 à Lyon ou en Toscane et mort en 1528 aux Antilles, est un homme d'affaires et explorateur italien d'origine florentine, au service de François lors de ses trois voyages de 1524 à 1528.

Generally the term applies to the publicly owned marine terminals located within Philadelphia city limits along west bank of the river. These terminals are managed by the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, PhilaPort, an agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The term is sometimes used for Delaware River port complex to collectively refer to the ports and energy facilities along the river in the tri-state PA-NJ-DE Delaware Valley region.

LenapehokingLenapehoking (Lënapehòkink) is widely translated as 'homelands of the Lenape', which in the 16th and 17th centuries, ranged along the Eastern seaboard from western Connecticut to Delaware, and encompassed the territory adjacent to the Delaware and lower Hudson river valleys, and the territory between them. Beginning in the 17th century, European colonists started settling on traditional Lenape lands. Combined with the concurrent introduction of Eurasian infectious diseases and encroachment from the colonists, the Lenape were severely depopulated and lost control over large portions of Lenapehoking.
