Guillermo Ortiz JimenezI received my BSc. in telecommunications engineering (Valedictorian) from Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain, in June 2015, and my MSc. in electrical engineering (Best Graduate, cum laude) from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), The Netherlands, in August 2018. During my studies, I held positions at the Microwaves and Radar Group of UPM during 2015-2016 and at Philips Healthcare Research in Hamburg (Germany) during summer 2017. I am now working towards my PhD. thesis at the Signal Processing Laboratory 4 under the supervision of Prof. Pascal Frossard. My current research focuses on understanding deep learning by studying the complex interactions between datasets, architectures and optimization. In my work, I am providing a novel framework to design better and more reliable neural networks that exploit prior knowledge about the world. I am the recipient of a National Award for Excellence in Academic Performance from the Ministry of Education of Spain, a la Caixa Postgraduate Fellowship, and the Best Graduate award both at UPM and TU Delft.
Olivier LévêqueOlivier Lévêque est né en Suisse en 1971. Il a reçu le diplôme d'ingénieur-physicien de l'EPFL en 1995 et obtenu le doctorat au Département de Mathématiques de l'EPFL en 2001. Depuis lors, il travaille au Laboratoire de Théorie de l'Information à l' EPFL. Il a passé l'année académique 2006-2007 au Département d'Electricité de l'Université de Stanford, où il a été nommé chargé de cours. Ses domaines d'intérêt comprennent la théorie de l'information, les matrices aléatoires et les équations aux dérivées partielles stochastiques.
Paolo PrandoniI appeared about at the same time as the White Album and, upon being born, I immediately took the one and only sabbatical of my life, which lasted a leisurely four years. I then proceeded to be pre-schooled, schooled, middle- and high-schooled, college educated, and finally grad-schooled here at EPFL. As a kid I was fascinated by those expensive long-distance phone calls and so I specialized in communication systems. And then I did this and I did that. But do we really want to go into details? I thought so.
