Partant du constat de la très grande dépendance des pays industrialisés et en particulier de la Suisse en matière d'hydrocarbures cet article montre le potentiel considérable d'économies d'énergie lié aux combinaisons technologiques mettant en jeu des pompes à chaleur. Le caractère multiplicatif des performances accrues des pompes à chaleur comme des centrales électriques avec ou sans cogénération ouvre la voie à des approches volontaristes permettant en quelques décennies de réduire considérablement notre dépendance au pétrole et nos émissions de gaz à effet de serre. Cette évolution serait par ailleurs particulièrement adaptée au tissus industriel suisse.
