Biographie

Charlotte Mazel-Cabasse holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Science and Technologies Studies from the University of Paris-Est, where she studied at the Laboratoire Techniques, Territoires et Sociétés (LATTS), at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.   Most recently, she was a Researcher at the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS), an organization funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation at the University of California - Berkeley, directed by Professor Saul Perlmutter. In this position, she was looking at how practices and methods of data science transform knowledge production and interdisciplinary collaboration in academia.   Previously a student researcher at EPFL she was lucky to contribute to many research projects questioning the definition of “science”, “society”, “future” and “risk”. Before going back to graduate school, she has also worked as a civil servant at the South African French Embassy, an NGO project coordinator for Aide Médicale Internationale (AMI) in Afghanistan and Indonesia and a freelance journalist, collaborating with French local and national newspapers.   She received her MA in Cultural Geography from Université de Reims, France; and her MA and BA in Information and Communications Sciences from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences de l’Information et de la Communication (CELSA) at Université Paris Sorbonne.
