Sulfate d'aluminiumLe sulfate d'aluminium (E520), de formule , est un sel formé par la combinaison de deux cations aluminium (Al3+) et de trois anions sulfate (). On le trouve dans le commerce sous forme de cristaux ou en solution liquide. Le sulfate d'aluminium est notamment utilisé dans le processus de coagulation-floculation pour le traitement des eaux. Dans la purification de l'eau, les impuretés en suspension se coagulent en particules plus grosses, puis se déposent au fond du récipient (ou sont filtrées) plus facilement.
Clostridium perfringens(anciennement appelé Clostridium welchii ou parfois Bacillus perfringens) est un bacille Gram positif du genre Clostridium. La bactérie est immobile, sporulée et anaérobie stricte. Cette bactérie va produire des nécrotoxines, provoquant ainsi l'entérite nécrosante. La toxine majeure la plus fréquente est la toxine alpha, essentiellement produite par Clostridium perfringens type A. Cette toxine est impliquée dans de très nombreux cas de gangrène chez les animaux dont l'humain.

HindgutThe hindgut (or epigaster) is the posterior (caudal) part of the alimentary canal. In mammals, it includes the distal one third of the transverse colon and the splenic flexure, the descending colon, sigmoid colon and up to the ano-rectal junction. In zoology, the term hindgut refers also to the cecum and ascending colon. Arterial supply is by the inferior mesenteric artery, and venous drainage is to the portal venous system. Lymphatic drainage is to the chyle cistern. The hindgut is innervated via the inferior mesenteric plexus.

Il se présente sous la forme pure de cristaux blancs orthorhombiques. Exposé à l'air, il se couvre d'oxyde de fer orangé. Néanmoins, ce corps chimique, facilement soluble dans l'eau froide, est facilement hydratable. Il existe des minéraux naturels de la famille du sulfate ferreux.
