Feasibility analysis of a micro gas turbine for hybrid cycle

Ce document présente la réalisation et les essais d’un générateur de gaz chauds offrant la possibilité de simuler les conditions de sorties d’une pile à combustible SOFC plane. Le document fait également part du design d’un banc d’essais visant à utiliser ce générateur de gaz chauds en combinaison avec une turbomachine pour tester la faisabilité d’un cycle de Brayton-Joule inversé au vue de la conception d’un système de cogénération avec une pile à combustible. Le rapport s’articule en quatre parties. La première partie fait l’objet d’une brève incursion dans le domaine particulier des bancs d’essais pour micro-turbines et petites turbomachines en général. Dans cette incursion, nous nous attacherons plus particulièrement aux possibilités techniques de générer des gaz chauds et aux possibilités de couplage avec différents types de turbomachines. Dans la seconde partie, il est décrit de manière détaillée la conception du banc d'essais pour le générateur de gaz chauds, qui pour notre cas, a été élaboré à partir d’une chaudière à gaz domestique. Dans cette description, il est également fait part des différents dispositifs de contrôle, de mesures et de sécurité adoptés sur le banc d’essais pour pallier toute avarie qui pourrait se présenter. La troisième partie est spécialement consacrée aux résultats obtenus pour le générateur de gaz chauds ainsi qu’à l’analyse et la confrontation de ceux-ci vis-à-vis des résultats théoriques obtenus par le programme de calcul également présenté dans cette partie. Enfin, dans la quatrième et dernière partie, nous présentons sur plan et schématiquement, la réalisation du banc d’essais complet avec le turbocompresseur, l’échangeur, le séparateur et toutes les composantes nécessaires au bon fonctionnement du banc d’essais, ainsi que toute l’instrumentation nécessaire à l’acquisition de données. In this report we are presenting a test bench design showing a hot gas generator simulating the output of a planar SOFC fuel cell. A gas turbine equipped with a hot gas heat exchanger between the output of the turbine and the compressor inlet in order to achieve a Brayton-Joule inverted cycle is coupled at the exit of the combustion chamber. This report is divided in four parts. The first one starts with a brief incursion in the art area, in the particular field of test equipment for microturbines and small turbine engines en general. In this incursion, we specifically focus on technical possibilities to generate hot gas and possible coupling with different types of turbomachinery. In the second part we describe in detail the design of a test bench for the hot gas generator which in our case has been developed from a domestic gas boiler. In this description a special attention has been given to various control devices and to security measures applied in order to avoid any damage that could arise. The third part is especially devoted to the results obtained from the hot gas generator and to an analysis comparing these results with the theoretical ones obtained from the calculation program also presented in this section. Finally, in the fourth and last section we present a plan with figures showing the realization of a complete test bench with the turbocharger, the heat exchanger, the separator and all necessary components for an optimal functioning of the test bench as well as all instrumentation needed to acquire a maximum of data. Our choices regarding the selected components are carefully specified.
