Measurement of the differential branching fraction of the decay Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+) mu(-)

The differential branching fraction of the decay Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+) mu(-) is measured as a function of the square of the dimuon invariant mass, q(2). A yield of 78 +/- 12 Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+) mu(-) decays is observed using data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. A significant signal is found in the q(2) region above the square of the J/psi mass, while at lower-q(2) values upper limits are set on the differential branching fraction. Integrating the differential branching fraction over q(2), while excluding the J/psi and psi(2S) regions, gives a branching fraction of B(Lambda(0)(b) -> Lambda mu(+) mu(-)) = (0.96 +/- 0.16(stat) +/- 0.13(syst) +/- 0.21 (norm)) x 10(-6), where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic and due to the normalisation mode, Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi Lambda, respectively. The ratio of branching fractions of the radiative B decays B-0 -> K-*0 gamma and B-s(0) -> phi gamma has been measured using an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1) of pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV. The value obtained is B(B-0 -> K-*0 gamma)/B(B-s(0) -> phi gamma) = 1.23 +/- 0.06 (stat.) +/- 0.04 (syst.) +/- 0.10 (f(s)/f(d)), where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty and the third is associated with the ratio of fragmentation fractions f(s)/f(d). Using the world average value for B(B-0 -> K-*0 gamma), the branching fraction B(B-s(0) -> phi gamma) is measured to be (3.5 +/- 0.4) x 10(-5). The direct CP asymmetry in B-0 -> K-*0 gamma decays has also been measured with the same data and found to be A(CP)(B-0 -> K-*0 gamma) = (0.8 +/- 1.7 (stat.) +/- 0.9 (syst.))%. Measurements of b-hadron masses are performed with the exclusive decay modes B+ --> J/psi K+, B-0 --> J/psi K-0*, B-0 --> J/psi K-S(0), B-s(0) --> j/psi phi and Lambda(0)(b) --> J/psi Lambda using all integrated luminosity of 35 pb(-1) collected in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV by the LHCb experiment. The momentum scale is calibrated with J/psi --> mu(+)mu(-) decays and verified to be known to a relative precision of 2 x 10(-4) using other two-body decays. The doubly charmed baryon decay Xi(++)(cc) -> Xi(+)(c)pi(+) is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance of 5.9 sigma, confirming a recent observation of the baryon in the Lambda K-+(c)-pi(+)pi(+) final state. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.7 fb(-1), collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The Xi(++)(cc) mass is measured to be 3620.6 +/- 1.5(stat) +/- 0.4(syst) +/- 0.3(Xi(+)(c)) MeV/c(2) and is consistent with the previous result. The ratio of branching fractions between the decay modes is measured to be [B(Xi(++)(cc) -> Xi(+)(c)pi(+)) x B(Xi(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+))]/[B(Xi(++)(cc) -> Lambda K-+(c)-pi(+)pi(+)) x B(Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+))] = 0.035 +/- 0.009 (stat) +/- 0.003 (syst).
