Along a planar interface bonding two solids made of Homalite, we simulate rupture events in the presence of a unique tougher inclusion with insights on the influence of its geometry and fracture properties. Our study is then pursued with fracture planes made of several asperities describing the influence of heterogeneities pattern on the regime of crack propagation. We observe that during the fast depinning of tougher asperity, a part of potential energy is dissipated as kinetic energy released in the form of elastic waves emitted at the interface.
