Une rupture peut être souhaitée par le concepteur de la pièce comme dans le cas de la conception de dispositifs de sécurité ou au contraire celui-ci cherche à éviter cette rupture en mettant en adéquation la fonction de cette pièce avec les dimensionnements et choix des matériaux utilisés et des procédés de fabrication.
Master of ScienceLe Master of Science (MSc) ou la Maîtrise ès sciences (M.Sc.) au Canada francophone est un grade universitaire des études scientifiques existant dans les pays de tradition universitaire anglo-saxonne. Un diplôme en France porte le même nom. Toutefois, il s'inscrit dans un format totalement différent et ne doit pas être confondu avec cet homologue anglo-saxon. Ce grade universitaire est obtenu en un à deux ans après l’obtention d’un premier grade. Le Master of Science a été introduit pour la première fois à l'université du Michigan en 1858.
Robot weldingRobot welding is the use of mechanized programmable tools (robots), which completely automate a welding process by both performing the weld and handling the part. Processes such as gas metal arc welding, while often automated, are not necessarily equivalent to robot welding, since a human operator sometimes prepares the materials to be welded. Robot welding is commonly used for resistance spot welding and arc welding in high production applications, such as the automotive industry.
Gender of connectors and fastenersIn electrical and mechanical trades and manufacturing, each half of a pair of mating connectors or fasteners is conventionally assigned the designation male or female. The female connector is generally a receptacle that receives and holds the male connector. Sometimes the terms plug and socket or jack are used, particularly in reference to electrical connectors. In some cases, the pins on the connector may have the opposite nominal gender to the mounted connector, such as the RCA connector.
