Résumé

The present invention relates to a novel method for preparing cationic azo compounds, which preferably can be used as dyes. Further, the invention relates to novel cationic azo compounds and the use of N2O in the synthesis of azo-imidazolium dyes.

A dye is a colored substance that chemically bonds to the substrate to which it is being applied. This distinguishes dyes from pigments which do not chemically bind to the material they color. Dye is generally applied in an aqueous solution and may require a mordant to improve the fastness of the dye on the fiber. The majority of natural dyes are derived from non-animal sources: roots, berries, bark, leaves, wood, fungi and lichens.

Colorant azoïque

Les colorants azoïques insolubles sont utilisés en teinturerie pour la teinture des fibres cellulosiques sous toutes ses formes. Ces colorants sont « incomplets » dans leur fabrication et qui est achevée au sein de la fibre en fin de teinture. Ainsi le colorant se présente d'une part sous forme de β-naphtol insoluble et d'autre part sous forme d'une base à diazoter ou d'un sel prêt à l'emploi.

La teinture est l'action de modifier la couleur d'un support par absorption d'un colorant. Elle est utilisée en cosmétique pour les cheveux et la peau, en ameublement pour teinter les bois ou les textiles, en confection pour les vêtements, en maroquinerie pour le cuir Le terme teinture désigne également la substance colorante elle-même. L'indigo est une teinture bleue extraite de l'indigotier qui est une des plus vieilles teintures connues : des traces en ont été retrouvées sur des vêtements tissés de l'Égypte antique.
