Une voix dans le désertUne voix dans le désert op. 77 est une récitation, avec soprano soliste et orchestre, composée par Edward Elgar en 1915 sur un texte du poète belge Émile Cammaerts. Elle est créée à Londres au Shaftesbury Theatre, le , avec comme récitant le dramaturge belge Carlo Liten , la soprano Olga Lynn et un orchestre dirigé par le compositeur. Le texte a été traduit en anglais par la femme de Cammaerts, Tita Brand. L'œuvre a été publiée sous forme de réduction pour piano (les parties vocales avec accompagnement de piano) par Elkin & Co.
Projective connectionIn differential geometry, a projective connection is a type of Cartan connection on a differentiable manifold. The structure of a projective connection is modeled on the geometry of projective space, rather than the affine space corresponding to an affine connection. Much like affine connections, projective connections also define geodesics. However, these geodesics are not affinely parametrized. David Bierens de HaanDavid Bierens de Haan (né le à Amsterdam, mort le , à Leyde) est un mathématicien néerlandais et un historien des mathématiques. Fils du riche marchand Abraham Pieterszoon de Haan (1795-1880) et de Catharina Jacoba Bierens (1797-1835), il termine ses études en sciences physiques en 1843, et passe son doctorat en 1847, pour son travail sur la lemniscate de Bernoulli. Par la suite, il donne des conférences sur l'histoire naturelle et les mathématiques au lycée Deventer.

During his scientific career, Mello was responsible for the discovery of thousands of protozoa, parasites and microbes which today bear the Latin names given by him, followed by his own surname. He served as mayor of Panjim from 1938–1945.
Charles HarosCharles Haros was a geometer (mathematician) in the French Bureau du Cadastre at the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century. One of the primary tasks of the Bureau du Cadastre was the accurate mapping of France for the purpose of taxation but from time to time the bureau also provided computational services to other parts of the government. One of the changes instituted by the French revolution was to convert France to the metric system and this necessitated changing from a fractional to a decimal representation of rational numbers.

Wassermann was born in 1957. He is the son of the quantum physicist Gerhard Dietrich Wassermann and the brother of the mathematician Alexander Simon Wassermann.

Son enseignement portait sur la logique, la métaphysique, la philosophie du langage et la philosophie de l’esprit. Son parcours philosophique a débuté dans le domaine de la phénoménologie, sous la direction du professeur Jacques Taminiaux.
