Engineering design processThe engineering design process, also known as the engineering method, is a common series of steps that engineers use in creating functional products and processes. The process is highly iterative - parts of the process often need to be repeated many times before another can be entered - though the part(s) that get iterated and the number of such cycles in any given project may vary. It is a decision making process (often iterative) in which the basic sciences, mathematics, and engineering sciences are applied to convert resources optimally to meet a stated objective.

Construction du World Trade CenterLe projet de construction du World Trade Center fut lancé par David Rockefeller et son frère Nelson, puis développé par l'autorité portuaire de New York qui embaucha l'architecte Minoru Yamasaki. Ce dernier arriva déjà avec l'idée de construire des tours jumelles. Et, après de longues négociations les États du New Jersey et le New York, qui supervisaient l'autorité portuaire, acceptèrent le projet. Buildings have been built in one place and reassembled in another throughout history. This was especially true for mobile activities, or for new settlements. Skyscraper design and constructionThe design and construction of skyscrapers involves creating safe, habitable spaces in very high buildings. The buildings must support their weight, resist wind and earthquakes, and protect occupants from fire. Yet they must also be conveniently accessible, even on the upper floors, and provide utilities and a comfortable climate for the occupants. The problems posed in skyscraper design are considered among the most complex encountered given the balances required between economics, engineering, and construction management.
