Résumé

A novel temperature sensing mechanism is proposed for the first time, based on thermodynamic phase transitions of CO2 in hollow-core fibers. A fast, sensitive and distributed fiber temperature alarm system is demonstrated using this concept.

Transition de phase

En physique, une transition de phase est la transformation physique d'un système d'une phase vers une autre, induite par la variation d'un paramètre de contrôle externe (température, champ magnétique...). Une telle transition se produit lorsque ce paramètre externe atteint une valeur seuil (ou valeur « critique »). La transformation traduit généralement un changement des propriétés de symétrie du système.

Température thermodynamique

La température thermodynamique est une formalisation de la notion expérimentale de température et constitue l’une des grandeurs principales de la thermodynamique. Elle est intrinsèquement liée à l'entropie. Usuellement notée , la température thermodynamique se mesure en kelvins (symbole K). Encore souvent qualifiée de « température absolue », elle constitue une mesure absolue parce qu’elle traduit directement le phénomène physique fondamental qui la sous-tend : l’agitation des constituant la matière (translation, vibration, rotation, niveaux d'énergie électronique).

Thermodynamic state

In thermodynamics, a thermodynamic state of a system is its condition at a specific time; that is, fully identified by values of a suitable set of parameters known as state variables, state parameters or thermodynamic variables. Once such a set of values of thermodynamic variables has been specified for a system, the values of all thermodynamic properties of the system are uniquely determined. Usually, by default, a thermodynamic state is taken to be one of thermodynamic equilibrium.
