Continuum Mechanics: EPFL Research Labs and Applications
This lecture introduces the continuum hypothesis in the context of car traffic and explores open research questions in continuum mechanics at EPFL. Topics include the interplay of geometry and mechanics, fracture of rock with fluid pressure, stability of turbulent fluid flows, vortex dynamics, and fluid-structure interaction.
