This lecture covers the applications of DNA arrays, including quantifying transcribed mRNA and identifying genetic variations. It explains the fabrication of DNA arrays using different technologies such as Affymetrix and lithographic methods. The lecture also delves into the detection of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on Affymetrix chips and the use of protein arrays for interaction studies. Various methods for array patterning and base substrates for protein microarrays are discussed, along with the in-situ creation of protein arrays from DNA arrays. The comparison between microarrays and RNA-Seq for transcriptome analysis is also presented.
