This lecture discusses the physics of a homogeneous cylinder resting on the ground against a step, exploring the minimum force required to make the cylinder tip over and the optimal angle for the smallest force. The lecture also covers scenarios involving a counterweight attached to a vertical cylinder, rotating around a fixed vertical axis, with a horizontal rod and masses attached. The dynamics of the system and the accelerations of the counterweight and the cylinder are analyzed.
