This lecture introduces collaborative writing beyond groups working together to complete a writing task, focusing on individuals communicating to plan, draft, and revise a document. Mathilde Panes from the EPFL library presents Overleaf and Authorea, two collaborative writing solutions. Overleaf, owned by Digital Science, offers unlimited storage, public documents, and collaborators for free, while Authorea, created at CERN and acquired by Atypon, provides 1 GB storage space, 60 files/project, and unlimited projects and collaborators. The lecture covers the features and benefits of both platforms, including account settings, templates, and project management.
