Photoanode Based on (001)-Oriented Anatase Nanoplatelets for Organic-Inorganic Lead Iodide Perovskite Solar Cell

Abstract

The methodology adopted for the preparation of perovskites plays a critical role in achieving high efficiency. Toward this direction, various strategies have been adopted to achieve a rational control over the growth of the perovskite layer for the fabrication of highly efficient devices. In the beginning, a single step was generally employed for the deposition of the perovskite layer. Apart from the technique for the preparation of perovskites, the modification of the photoanode has also garnered significant attention, with reports on how the replacement of the mesoporous photoanode with a planar architecture leads to devices that do not compromise much on performance. Although the performance in dye sensitized solar cells (DSC) is strongly dictated by the porosity and surface properties of mesoporous photoanode, the aim of the approach presented here is specifically to reduce the thickness of a relatively less porous layer of photoanode by exploiting the planar nature of nanoplatelets.
