The Resilient Steel Structures Laboratory (RESSLab) at EPFL, led by Prof. Dimitrios Lignos, focuses on enhancing the resilient-based design of steel and composite-steel structures under multiple hazards. Through integrated experimental and computational research, they develop new approaches and tools to improve the performance and safety of civil engineering infrastructure. Research topics include collapse assessment, mechanics-based computational simulation, and fatigue and fracture mechanics. The lab collaborates with leading academic institutions and industry partners worldwide to advance the design and behavior of steel buildings and bridges.
