Very Large Scale Computing Laboratory

The Computer Science Laboratory, also known as VLSC, focuses on addressing critical software and hardware challenges in building large-scale services. These services involve tens of geo-distributed data centers with thousands of servers, requiring high availability and responsiveness. Research directions include reconfigurable computing, genomic computing, and non-volatile memory technologies. VLSC's work aims to advance computing models, bioinformatics architectures, and durable data storage solutions. Led by Prof. James Larus, the lab's interdisciplinary research approach combines expertise in programming languages, compilers, computer architecture, and operating systems.
