This lecture, presented by a postdoc researcher, introduces the EPFL student horological competition project. The project aims to bridge the gap in watchmaking education by challenging students to create large-scale demonstrators of various watch mechanisms, such as Swiss delivery escapements, clock escapements, and watch escapements. Through this competition, students explore mechanical creativity in watchmaking without industrial constraints, with coaching provided by lab members and evaluation by a jury of experts.
