This lecture takes place in the Automatic Control DLL room, where students conduct experiments on electric drives. Through a MOOC and web interface, students remotely access over 20 electric drives to practice theoretical concepts like time constants, sensor management, and system linearity. The lecture showcases the setup of an electric drive, explaining how to measure current, rotation speed, and disk position. Students learn to manage system limitations, such as motor saturation and friction, to operate within the linear zone. The practical exercises are conducted remotely via a MOOC hosted on EPFL servers, allowing students to adjust motor parameters, observe system responses, and save data for analysis.
