This lecture covers the regulation of the digestive system, focusing on the absorption and metabolism of lipids. Topics include the structure of lipids, bile salts, absorption of lipids, formation of chylomicrons and VLDL, water and Na+ absorption, Ca++ absorption regulation, Fe++ absorption regulation, folate and vitamin B12 absorption, glucose and amino acid metabolism in the liver, and cholesterol metabolism.
