This lecture covers the asymmetric synthesis using the Myers auxiliary and the Seebach method, including the Schöllkopf method and aldolization. Topics include the generation and reactivity of enolates, chiral auxiliaries, alkylation of enolates, and the Zimmermann-Traxler model. The Myers auxiliary allows the access to aldehydes and ketones in one step, while the Seebach method involves nucleophilic addition to form b-hydroxyketones. The Zimmermann-Traxler model presents a challenging stereocontrol in aldolization reactions.
