This lecture covers the finite element simulation of a microfluidic H-Filter, a device developed for continuous extraction of molecular analytes without the need for a membrane filter. Topics include the H-Filter principle, modeling in COMSOL, concentration effects on viscosity, and diffusion coefficients. The design of the H-Filter utilizes the Einstein relation to control diffusion times, ensuring efficient separation of species. Comsol simulation results show concentration profiles for different diffusion coefficients. Students are encouraged to engage in a tutorial to deepen their understanding of microfluidic H-Filters.
