Large-area sensors: Devices and Applications
This lecture covers the principles and applications of large-area sensors, focusing on flat panel imagers, X-ray imaging, medical imaging, security, and non-destructive testing. It explains the operation of position sensitive devices, including PSD types, c-Si PSD principle, and thin-film PSD operation. The interaction of particles with matter, stopping power, energy loss for charged particles, and photon interaction with matter are discussed. The lecture also addresses electron-hole pair creation, MIPS, Bragg curve, photon absorption with matter, and direct vs. indirect detection methods.
