Considerations on FranceConsiderations on France (Considérations sur la France) is a 1796 political pamphlet and treatise by the Savoyard philosopher Joseph de Maistre about the ongoing French Revolution. Maistre presents a providential interpretation of the Revolution and argues for a new alliance of throne and altar under a restored Bourbon monarchy. The work is the best-known French equivalent of Edmund Burke's work Reflections on the Revolution in France (1790). Maistre claimed that France had a divine mission as the principal instrument of good and evil on Earth.

It represents Rousseau's last venture into political theory. To many readers, The Government of Poland is surprising in the degree to which its recommendations sometimes defy the principles expressed in Rousseau's more famous work, The Social Contract.
Chambourg-sur-IndreChambourg-sur-Indre (ʃɑ̃buʁ syʁ ɛ̃dʁ, literally Chambourg on Indre) is a commune in the department of Indre-et-Loire in the region of Centre-Val de Loire, France. In these pamphlets Voltaire expresses many themes, including primarily his arguments against other recent pamphlets that had discussed religious miracles. Voltaire, in his responses found it ridiculous that God would occasionally violate natural laws for a particular reason.
Bearing pressureBearing pressure is a particular case of contact mechanics often occurring in cases where a convex surface (male cylinder or sphere) contacts a concave surface (female cylinder or sphere: bore or hemispherical cup).
