Gaston JèzeGaston Jèze (March 2, 1869, Toulouse – August 5, 1953, Deauville) was a French academic, humanitarian and human rights activist. He was a professor of public law and the resident of the International Law Institute. During the 1930s, he served as legal counsel to Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, who had been deposed and exiled by the Italian Fascists. During World War II, he spoke out against the persecution of Jews and other minorities by Vichy France.

Charles DobzynskiCharles Dobzynski (born 1929 Warsaw - 26 September 2014) was a French poet, journalist and translator. His family emigrated to France, where he was barely a year old. He narrowly escaped deportation during World War II. he published his first poem in 1944, in a youth newspaper of the Resistance. In 1949, Paul Eluard presented his first poems in Les Lettres françaises. On the proposal of Aragon, he entered the newspaper's editors Ce Soir. He was a journalist and film critic.
Chasseurs AlpinsThe chasseurs alpins (Alpine Hunters) are the elite mountain infantry force of the French Army. They are trained to operate in mountainous terrain and in urban warfare. France created its own mountain corps in the late 19th century in order to oppose any Italian invasion through the Alps. In 1859–70 Italy became unified, forming a powerful state. The French army saw this geopolitical change as a potential threat to their Alpine border, especially as the Italian army was already creating troops specialized in mountain warfare (the Alpini).
Henri LavacheryHenri Alfred Lavachery (6 May 1885 – 1 December 1972) was a Belgian archaeologist and ethnologist. In 1934, he became the first professional archaeologist to visit Easter Island, and was later known for his study of its art. He was curator at the Royal Museums of Art and History during the 1940s, and founded the Society of Americanists in Belgium in 1928. Lavachery was born in Liège in 1885, and received his doctorate in classical philology from the University of Brussels in 1908.
