The Laboratory of Construction Materials (LMC) at EPFL, led by Professor Karen Scrivener, focuses on intensive research to enhance cement and concrete, the world's most used material. The LMC offers concrete technology education, conducts testing for the construction industry, and collaborates internationally on projects like LC3 Concrete and Pan-African Cement. The laboratory houses the Powder Technology Group (PTG) under Prof. Paul Bowen, which explores low-carbon cement and performance-based standards for hydraulic cements. With a highly qualified team of scientific collaborators and doctoral students, the LMC is at the forefront of sustainable construction materials research.
