The Optical Laboratory at EPFL conducts multi-disciplinary research on various topics including linear and non-linear multimode fibers, imaging through complex scattering media, laser tissue ablation, cochlear imaging, optical diffusion tomography, holography, opto-fluidics, electrochemistry, hydrogen production, and deep learning for optical imaging. They explore novel optical and computational techniques for optical diffraction tomography, imaging through multi-mode fibers, and printing optical waveguides. Additionally, the laboratory investigates the connection between optics and neural networks, demonstrating efficient solutions for optical problems using neural networks and implementing neural network structures with optical systems. Furthermore, they work on membrane-less electrolyzers for hydrogen production utilizing fluidic flow to separate hydrogen and oxygen bubbles.
