The Laboratory for Biomolecular Modeling, led by Prof. Matteo Dal Peraro, focuses on understanding the physical and chemical properties of complex biological systems. They use computational tools integrated with experimental data to investigate molecular assemblies, structural biology, methods development, and molecular bioengineering. The lab is actively involved in the structural characterization of macromolecular complexes with various biological functions, utilizing techniques like X-ray crystallography, NMR, and cryoEM. Additionally, they develop technologies for molecular visualization, including methods for augmented and virtual reality. One of their key research areas is integrative structural biology, where they tackle the challenge of determining the structure of large molecular complexes in complex biological environments.
