Bangash
The Bangash, Bungish, Bangaš or Bangakh (بنګښ) are a tribe of Pashtuns, inhabiting their traditional homeland, historically known as Bangash district, which stretches from Kohat to Tall in Hangu and Spīn Ghar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. They also live as a smaller population in Gardez Paktia, Afghanistan. The Bangash are also settled in large numbers in Uttar Pradesh, India, especially in the city of Farrukhabad, which was founded in 1714 by Nawab Muhammad Khan Bangash.
Afridi (pachtounes)
The Afrīdī (اپريدی Aprīdai, plur. اپريدي Aprīdī; آفریدی) are a Pashtun tribe present in Pakistan. The Afridis are most dominant in the Spin Ghar range west of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, covering most of the Khyber Pass and Maidan in Tirah. Afridi migrants are also found in India, mostly in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Herodotus, in his Histories, mentions a tribe named Aparytai (Ἀπαρύται) inhabiting the Achaemenid satrapy of Arachosia.
Peshawar
Peshawar ( ; en ourdou : پشاور, ; en pachto : پېښور, ; en hindko : پشور, ) est une ville d'environ deux millions d'habitants située dans le nord du Pakistan, à l'extrémité orientale de la passe de Khyber. Elle est la capitale de la province de Khyber Pakhtunkhwa et sixième plus grande ville du pays. Cité antique connue sous le nom de Purushapura dans l'Inde ancienne, elle était alors la capitale du Gandhara. Elle était aussi connue des Grecs sous le nom de « Peukalaotis ». C'est un lieu de peuplement historique des Pachtounes.
Pachtounes
Les Pachtounes (en pachto : پښتون ; en persan : پشتون ; en ourdou : پختون) ou Pathans (en ourdou : پٹھان ; en hindi : पठान paṭhān) ou Afghans (pachto :أفغان) sont un peuple iranien divisé en plusieurs grandes tribus et parlant surtout le pachto. Peuple fondateur de l’Afghanistan moderne avec Ahmad Shah Durrani au , les Pachtounes ont par ailleurs donné leur nom au pays, « afghan » étant un synonyme de « pachtoune ». La population pachtoune la plus importante se trouve toutefois au Pakistan, surtout dans la province de Khyber Pakhtunkhwa qui a pris leur nom.
