AmatsukamiAmatsukami is a category of kami in Japanese mythology. Generally speaking, it refers to kami born in, or residing in, Takamagahara. Amatsukami is one of the three categories of kami, along with their earthly counterpart Kunitsukami, and yaoyorozu-no-kami. Modern Shinto no longer makes the distinction between Amatsukami and Kunitsukami. According to Yijiang Zhong the distinction was made by the writers of the Nihon Shoki and the Kojiki to formulate a political discourse.
KamuyA kamuy (カムィ; kamui) is a spiritual or divine being in Ainu mythology, a term denoting a supernatural entity composed of or possessing spiritual energy. The Ainu people have many myths about the kamuy, passed down through oral traditions and rituals. The stories of the kamuy were portrayed in chants and performances, which were often performed during sacred rituals. In concept, kamuy are similar to the Japanese kami but this translation misses some of the nuances of the term (the missionary John Batchelor assumed that the Japanese term was of Ainu origin).

Il est fabriqué en inscrivant le nom d'un kami, le nom d'un sanctuaire shintô ou un symbole représentant le kami sur une bande de papier, de bois, de tissu ou de métal. Il doit être renouvelé chaque année, typiquement avant la fin de l'année, et s'utilise en l'attachant à une porte, à une colonne ou au plafond. Il peut également être placé dans un sanctuaire privé appelé kamidana.

Dans les rituels shintoïstes, le est une châsse portable que les fidèles (hommes ou femmes) transportent dans les rues d'un quartier au cours d'une procession, souvent lors d'un matsuri. Préparation du mikoshi : Les prêtres placent la relique du sanctuaire, incarnation physique du kami, dans le mikoshi. Ils portent pour cela des masques et des gants pour ne pas souiller le kami. Le prêtre principal prononce ensuite les incantations sacrées et appelle le kami à s'incarner dans le mikoshi.
