Cantonese peopleThe Cantonese people () or Yue people (), are a Yue-speaking ethnic group or Han Chinese subgroup originating from or residing in the provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi (collectively known as Liangguang or, with other regions, Lingnan), in Southern Mainland China. More accurately, "Cantonese" refers only to people with roots from Guangzhou and its satellite cities and towns, rather than simply and generally referring to the people of the Liangguang region.

Tanka (minorité)Les Tankas (蜑家/疍家, pinyin : Dànjiā, jyutpin : Daan6gaa1), ou « peuple des bateaux », est une population minoritaire du Sud de la Chine qui vit traditionnellement dans des jonques, sur les côtes des provinces du Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan et Zhejiang, ainsi qu'à Hong Kong et Macao. Bien qu'une grande partie vive maintenant sur terre, quelques membres des anciennes générations vivent encore sur leurs navires étroits et poursuivent leur forme de vie et activité de pêche traditionnelle.

LingnanLingnan (; Vietnamese: Lĩnh Nam) is a geographic area referring to the lands in the south of the Nanling Mountains. The region covers the modern Chinese subdivisions of Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong & Macau and the Northern half of Vietnam. The area was inhabited by the Baiyue and was the base of the ancient kingdom of Nanyue. At that time, Lingnan was considered by the ancient Chinese court to be a tropical barbarian land that had lost contact with the Zhongyuan, which was the cultural cradle of Chinese culture.
ChaoshanChaoshan or Teoswa (; peng'im: Dio5suan1 [ti̯o˥˥꜖꜖.sũ̯ã˧˧]) is a cultural-linguistic region in the east of Guangdong, China. It is the origin of the Min Nan Chaoshan dialect (潮汕话). The region, also known as Chiushan in Cantonese, consists of the cities Chaozhou, Jieyang and Shantou. It differs linguistically from the rest of Guangdong province which was historically dominated by Yue speakers, followed by Hakka and Leizhou Min speakers. However, Mandarin has recently become the dominant language in the region.

Teochew nangThe Teochew people, Swatow people or Chaoshan people (rendered Têo-Swa in romanized Teoswa and Chaoshan in Modern Standard Mandarin also known as Teo-Swa in mainland China due to a change in place names) is anyone native to the historical Chaoshan region in south China who speak the Chaoshan Min language. Today, most ethnic Teochew people live throughout Chaoshan and Hong Kong, and also outside China in Southeast Asia, including in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
