Unit load
The term unit load refers to the size of an assemblage into which a number of individual items are combined for ease of storage and handling, for example a pallet load represents a unit load which can be moved easily with a pallet jack or forklift truck, or a container load represents a unit for shipping purposes. A unit load can be packed tightly into a warehouse rack, intermodal container, truck or boxcars, yet can be easily broken apart at a distribution point, usually a distribution center, wholesaler, or retail store for sale to consumers or for use.
Strapping
Strapping, also known as bundling and banding, is the process of applying a strap to an item to combine, stabilize, hold, reinforce, or fasten it. A strap may also be referred to as strapping. Strapping is most commonly used in the packaging industry. Strap is a flat, flexible material, most commonly made from steel or various types of plastic. Steel is the oldest and highest tensile strength strapping. It is available in a variety of widths and thicknesses as well as variations in the grade of steel.
Shipping container
A shipping container is a container with strength suitable to withstand shipment, storage, and handling. Shipping containers range from large reusable steel boxes used for intermodal shipments to the ubiquitous corrugated boxes. In the context of international shipping trade, "container" or "shipping container" is virtually synonymous with "intermodal freight container" (sometimes informally called a "sea can"), a container designed to be moved from one mode of transport to another without unloading and reloading.
Less-than-truckload shipping
Less-than-truckload shipping or less than load (LTL) is the transportation of an amount of freight sized between individual parcels and full truckloads. Parcel carriers handle small packages and freight that can be broken down into units less than approximately . Full truckload carriers move entire semi-trailers. Semi-trailers are typically between and require a substantial amount of freight to make such transportation economical. The term LTL can refer to the freight itself, or to the carrier that transports the such freight.
Package testing
Package testing or packaging testing involves the measurement of a characteristic or property involved with packaging. This includes packaging materials, packaging components, primary packages, shipping containers, and unit loads, as well as the associated processes. Testing measures the effects and interactions of the levels of packaging, the package contents, external forces, and end-use. It can involve controlled laboratory experiments, subjective evaluations by people, or field testing.
Emballage

Matière dangereuse
Les matières dangereuses sont des matières ou objets qui présentent un risque pour la santé, la sécurité, les biens ou l'environnement. Celles-ci sont énumérées dans la liste des marchandises dangereuses des règlements du transport ou, si elles ne figurent pas sur cette liste, sont classées conformément aux réglementations internationales. L'ONU est l'institution internationale qui établit les règles de ces transports. Il existe donc des accords internationaux pour les transports routier, ferroviaire et fluvial.

Package engineering is an interdisciplinary field integrating science, engineering, technology and management to protect and identify products for distribution, storage, sale, and use.
Palette de manutention
La palette de manutention est un accessoire destiné à rationaliser la manutention, le stockage et le transport de marchandises. L'idée pertinente de l’innovation fut de standardiser le mode de reprise de charge par le dessous en faisant une surélévation minimale d'un élément rigide plat. Cette innovation est intimement liée au domaine du matériel de manutention (par exemple les chariots élévateurs). Le premier échelon de ce métier est celui de cariste. Les palettes sont très répandues dans l'emballage, le transport de charge et le stockage.
