Yves Pedrazzini
Détenteur d'un doctorat ès sciences (section architecture) et d'une licence en sociologie, Yves Pedrazzini est Maître d'Enseignement et de Recherche (MER / Senior Scientist) au Laboratoire de sociologie urbaine (LASUR) et chargé de cours de la section d'architecture de l'Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Depuis plus de 30 ans, il analyse les dynamiques urbaines, les pratiques spatiales, les cultures urbaines -dont le hip hop et les sports de rue tel que le basket de playground et le skateboard-, les phénomènes de violence et d'insécurité, dans les pays du Sud et du Nord. Dès 1987, il mène des recherches ethnographiques sur les mutations des grandes villes dAmérique latine, plus spécialement les gangs de jeunes des bidonvilles de Caracas, Bogota ou San Salvador. A cette fin, il a développé des méthodes qualitatives novatrices, s'inspirant des recherches-actions participatives qui situent l'acteur social au centre du dispositif d'observation. En 1994, Yves Pedrazzini obtient le titre de docteur ès sciences de l'EPFL. A partir de 1997, il ajoute à son expérience urbaine latino-américaine (Brésil, Bolivie, Colombie, Cuba, El Salvador, Mexique, Venezuela) une nouvelle expertise africaine (Sénégal, Ethiopie), puis l'Asie (Pakistan, Népal, Inde...) et la Chine, à partir de 2000, enfin la Palestine, le Liban... Depuis lors, Yves Pedrazzini dirige des projets de recherche internationale en partenariat avec des chercheurs (latino-)américains et africains. Il a publié de nombreux livres et articles sur les thématiques urbaines, notamment les violences urbaines et les cultures de rue, d'un point de vue théorique et méthodologique. A partir de cette expérience de terrain, il a entrepris la relation d'une "histoire secrète" de l'urbanisme, celle des bidonvilles, des résistances d'habitants ordinaires à la violence de l'urbanisation et de la planification urbaine, l'urbanisme des barricades contre celui d'Haussmann. Cette histoire est aussi celle des mémoires collectives populaire, résistant à leur effacement. S'en est suivi dès 2015, la création du collectif d'urbanistes "ARCHITECTURE & RÉSISTANCE", en Espagne, Suisse et Venezuela. Enfin, en essayant d'assembler les enseignements de tous ces projets, Pedrazzini mène un projet sans fin d'identification de la nouvelle matière sociale et spatiale de la ville contemporaine, une narration qu'il désigne désormais sous le nom de PUNKSPACE.
Aurèle Parriaux
Aurèle Parriaux studied geology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. He obtained his Ph.D. in hydrogeology and followed several postgraduate courses in hydrogeology, operational hydrology and geotechnics. He acquired a wide experience in engineering geology in the fields of motorway construction, geological hazards, underground water and geomaterials prospecting as well as the management of natural resources.
In 1991, he was appointed full Professor of Engineering Geology at EPFL and presently he is head of the Engineering and Environmental Geology Laboratory (GEOLEP) at the same institute. He leads a research team of about twenty people specializing in the fields of geological hazards and underground resources.
Professor Parriaux has significant teaching responsibilities. He teaches geology to students in 'Civil Engineering' and 'Environmental Sciences and Engineering'. Moreover, he teaches Engineering Geology at the Universitiy of Lausanne.
Parallel to his research and teaching, Aurèle Parriaux carries out expert appraisals in various fields of engineering and environmental geology. In particular, the recent appraisal of the compatibility between construction of tunnels and protection of groundwater resources.
Since the creation of the new School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, he participates in the teaching related to territory and landscape into which he brings the geological and geomorphologic component.
Aurèle Parriaux is active in several international organizations. He was chairman of the Swiss Hydrogeological Society for six years. From 2001 to 2006 he was Director of the Civil Engineering Section of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne.
In 2006, he published his book "Géologie: bases pour l'ingénieur". The second edition of this successful textbook has been published in 2009. In competition with 105 scientific books, Géologie : bases pour l'ingénieur received the Roberval Prize in 2007. The publisher CRC Press/Balkema, member of the Taylor & Francis Group, publishes an English translation of the book (Geology: basics for Engineers, 2009).
In December 2008, Prof. Parriaux was nominated Chevalier of the Order of Academic Palms by the Prime Minister of the Republic of France.
In September 2011, he left the EPFL to dedicate his time to being an independent expert. Prof. Parriaux is currently based at Chemin de Crêt de Plan 103 in La Conversion CH-1093 (www.parriauxgeo.ch). He is continuing his collaboration with EPFL, especially on the DEEP CITY Project and on landslide research.
Anna Pagani
Anna Pagani is an Italian architect and PhD candidate (C. Binder, HERUS). In 2015 she graduates cum laude in Architecture and Building Engineering at both Politecnico di Torino and Politecnico di Milano in Italy. She obtains a Double-Master Degree for technology talents (ASP-Alta Scuola Politecnica) with a multidisciplinary thesis about the Turin Energy Centre.During her academic path she is the winner of multiple European Union scholarships, allowing her to study in Barcelona and Lausanne. Her Master Thesis entitled “Hutongs-Transformation: A Battle Between Memories” (2015) is awarded with honors by the Politecnico di Torino.Following the path of anthropology, architecture, and sustainability, Anna is the curator of the seminar “Chinese New TOwns: negotiating citizenship and physical form” at the Beijing Design Week 2016.In 2017 she moves to China and works as architect for DEDODESIGN, a sino-italian architectural and design firm based in Shanghai, which focuses on sustainable architecture projects. During her stay, she is the organizer of two international workshops around the topics of sustainability.Aside from university..Anna studies since the age of 4 in the Lycée Français Jean Giono in Torino, which allowed her to speak, today, 6 languages. With a strong passion for writing, she has published on the Italian Review Edizioni Zero, il Giornale dell’Architettura, as well as Babylon.When she's not in the office, Anna practices yoga every morning, dances contemporary dance, sings in a choir, studies German, and attempts to limit her environmental footprint...
Luisa Pastore
With a background in Architectural Engineering, Luisa specialised in sustainable architecture, bioclimatic design and comfort in buildings through a PhD from the University of Palermo (2013) followed by a Post-doc at the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Performance-Integrated Design (LIPID) of EPFL (2014-2019).She is currently a Scientific Collaborator at the Smart Living Lab - EPFL and professor of Material Behaviour and Architecture and Energy Concept at the Ecole d’Architecture et d’Architecture d’Intérieur – idées House of Lausanne.She also works as Coordinator for the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction where she acts as a liaison between the Academic Committee and the core Management Office of the Foundation. Besides the coordination of the AC's agenda, she supports the organization of events and competitions for the promotion of innovative sustainable design solutions that can tackle today's environmental, socioeconomic, and cultural issues affecting the built environment.Since 2021 she has also joined Amber Lion Partners as Impact and Sustainability Advisor.
