Professeur (titre)

Professeur ou professeure, souvent noté Pr ou Prof., est un terme utilisé comme un titre académique lié à l'histoire des universités. Il trouve ses origines dans les titulaires d'une chaire universitaire, ainsi amené à professer leurs savoirs à la manière des archevêques qui professaient depuis leur chaire ecclésiastique. Il qualifie un expert qui étudie, professe et débat de connaissances dans un art ou une science.
Doctor of Philosophy
A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD, Ph.D., or DPhil; Latin: philosophiae doctor or doctor philosophiae) is the most common degree at the highest academic level, awarded following a course of study and research. PhDs are awarded for programs across the whole breadth of academic fields. Because it is an earned research degree, those studying for a PhD are required to produce original research that expands the boundaries of knowledge, normally in the form of a dissertation, and defend their work before a panel of other experts in the field.
Doctorat en administration des affaires
Le DBA (pour Doctorate in Business Administration) est un diplôme délivré après une formation à temps plein ou temps partiel, suivie par des apprenants dans le domaine des sciences de gestion. Certains pays le reconnaissent comme un doctorat, et il peut alors donner droit au titre de docteur. Les candidats au DBA doivent généralement justifier d'une expérience professionnelle. Le projet de DBA, est appelé généralement thèse. Il s'agit en France d'un diplôme d'établissement qui n'est pas inscrit au RNCP.
Master of Engineering
A Master of Engineering (abbreviated MEng, ME, M.E. or M.Eng.) is a professional master's degree in the field of engineering. In Australia, the Master of Engineering degree is a research degree requiring completion of a thesis. Like the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), it is considered a lesser degree than Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). It is not to be confused with Master of Engineering Science, Master of Engineering Studies or Master of Professional Engineering which are coursework master's degrees.
Engineer's degree
An engineer's degree is an advanced academic degree in engineering which is conferred in Europe, some countries of Latin America, North Africa and a few institutions in the United States. The degree may require a thesis but always requires a non-abstract project. Through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), Engineers Canada accredits Canadian undergraduate engineering programs that meet the standards of the profession.
Professional degree
A professional degree, formerly known in the US as a first professional degree, is a degree that prepares someone to work in a particular profession, practice, or industry sector often meeting the academic requirements for licensure or accreditation. Professional degrees may be either graduate or undergraduate entry, depending on the profession concerned and the country, and may be classified as bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees.
Master of Business Administration
Le Master of Business Administration (MBA) est un diplôme d'études supérieures dans le domaine du marketing, finances, ressources humaines et management. Un diplôme en France porte le même nom. Toutefois, il s'inscrit dans un format totalement différent et ne doit pas être confondu avec cet homologue anglo-saxon. Ce grade universitaire est obtenu en un à deux ans après l’obtention d’un premier grade. Le MBA a été créé aux États-Unis dans les écoles d'administration sous l'intitulé anglais de master's degree in business administration, devenu Master of business administration, en abrégé MBA.
Terminal degree
A terminal degree is the highest-level college degree that can be achieved and awarded in an academic discipline or professional field. In other cases, it is a degree that is awarded because a doctoral-level degree is not available nor appropriate. An earned academic (or research) doctorate such as a Ph.D., Ed.D. or D.B.A. is considered the terminal degree in most academic fields, as well as the most advanced degree possible, advancing the boundaries of human knowledge through research and dissertation defense, in the United States.

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D. or D.Ed.; Latin Educationis Doctor or Doctor Educationis) is (depending on region and university) a research or professional doctoral degree that focuses on the field of education. It prepares the holder for academic, research, administrative, clinical, or professional positions in educational, civil, private organizations, or public institutions. Considerable differences exist in structure, content and aims between regions.
Docteur (titre)
Le titre de docteur (Dr) est décerné aux titulaires du grade universitaire de doctorat. Le terme de docteur vient du verbe latin docēre qui signifie « enseigner » car le diplôme permettait d'enseigner dans les facultés de droit et de théologie des universités du Moyen Âge, alors que le diplôme de licence (licencia docendi) ne permettait d'enseigner que dans les collèges de la faculté des arts (nos actuels lycées). Le titre de docteur est ainsi utilisé comme titre académique depuis plus d'un millénaire en Europe.
