HésebonHésebon ou Esebon, Esbous, Esebus (en arabe : حشبون, en latin : Esebus, en hébreu : חשבון), est une ville antique de Palestine, située à l'est du Jourdain, sur le territoire de la tribu de Rubin, située dans l'actuelle Jordanie. Ses ruines actuelles portant leur vieux nom arabe de Tell Ḥesbān, et sont situées à environ neuf kilomètres au nord de la ville de Madaba. La ville abrite dans les premiers siècles un évêché, qui a donné longtemps son titre à un in partibus. Dans la Bible, la ville appartient à la tribu de Ruben.

QénitesAccording to the Hebrew Bible, the Kenites/Qenites (ˈkiːnaɪt or ˈkɛnaɪt; Qēinī) were a tribe in the ancient Levant. They settled in the towns and cities in the northeastern Negev in an area known as the "Negev of the Kenites" near Arad, and played an important role in the history of ancient Israel. One of the most recognized Kenites is Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, who was a shepherd and a priest in the land of Midian Certain groups of Kenites settled among the Israelite population, including the descendants of Moses' brother-in-law, although the Kenites descended from Rechab maintained a distinct, nomadic lifestyle for some time.
Balak (Bible)Balak (בָּלָק Bālāq) was a king of Moab described in the Book of Numbers in the Hebrew Bible, where his dealings with the prophet Balaam are recounted. Balak tried to engage Balaam for the purpose of cursing the migrating Israelite community. On his journey to meet the princes of Moab, Balaam is stopped by an angel of the lord after beating his donkey. He tells the angel he will return home: "I have sinned, for I did not know that you stood against me on the road".
High placeIn a biblical context, "high place" or "high places" (Hebrew: במה bamah and plural במות bamot or bamoth) always means "place(s) of worship". This rendering has etymological justification, as appears from the poetical use of the plural in such expressions as to ride, or stalk, or stand on the "high places" of the earth, the sea, the clouds, and from the corresponding usage in Assyrian; but it has been surmised that a semantic shift occurred because the places of worship were originally upon hilltops, or because the bamah was an artificial platform or mound, perhaps imitating the natural eminence which was the oldest holy place, but neither view is historically demonstrable.
GibeonGibeon (ou Gabaa ou Gabaon) était une ville de l'ancien Israël de la tribu de Benjamin, à 8 km au nord de Jérusalem. Elle est célèbre pour la légende du soleil arrêté par l'ordre de Josué. Le site serait le village de El-jib dans les territoires palestiniens occupés. Au temps de la conquête, la ville de Gibéon est peuplée d'Amorrites qui décident de s'allier avec Josué et les Israélites. Saül fait injustement la guerre aux Gibéonites, plus tard le prophète Samuel rétablira la paix avec eux.
