Liouba Bortniker

Liouba Bortniker (1860-années 1900) est une mathématicienne russe, naturalisée française qui est, en France, la deuxième femme licenciée en mathématiques, première femme agrégée en mathématiques, et première récipiendaire du prix Peccot. Après Liouba Bortniker en 1885, ce n'est qu'en 1920 que Madeleine Chaumont (reçue première) et Georgette Parize sont des femmes reçues à l’agrégation masculine de mathématiques. Liouba Bortniker naît le à Alexandrowka, en Ukraine alors partie intégrante de la Russie.

Piotr Tchikhatchov

Piotr Alexandrovitch Tchikhatchov (Пётр Александрович Чихачёв), né le 28 (16) à Gatchina et mort le à Florence, est un géographe, géologue et explorateur russe d'expression française. Il a laissé son nom aux monts Tchikhatchov dans l'Altaï. Son abréviation botanique est Tchich. Piotr Tchikhatchov est le frère aîné de l'explorateur Platon Tchikhatchov (1812-1892). Il naît dans la famille du colonel Alexandre Petrovitch Tchikhatchov, ancien du régiment Préobrajensky, devenu haut fonctionnaire à la Cour impériale et directeur de Gatchina, où demeure l'impératrice douairière.

Language pedagogy

Language pedagogy is the discipline concerned with the theories and techniques of teaching language. It has been described as a type of teaching wherein the teacher draws from their own prior knowledge and actual experience in teaching language. The approach is distinguished from research-based methodologies. There are several methods in language pedagogy but they can be classified into three: structural, functional, and interactive. Each of these encompasses a number of methods that can be utilised in order to teach and learn languages.

Jacques Peuchet

Jacques Peuchet (6 March 1758–28 September 1830) was a French jurist, statistician and compiler of archives. A monarchist, he was keeper of the archives of the French police. Karl Marx gave a vivid summary of Peuchet's career: Jacques Peuchet proceeded from belles lettres to medicine, from medicine to law, from law to administration and the police. Antoine Magnan

Antoine Magnan (13 June 1881 – 5 March 1938) was a French zoologist and aeronautical engineer who studied the flight of insects and birds for possible lessons to apply to powered flight. He is best known for a remark in his 1934 book Le Vol des Insectes ("Insect Flight") that insect flight was impossible. Magnan was born in the central 7th arrondissement of Paris on 13 June 1881. He qualified as a doctor of medicine and of science, and received the diploma of superior studies in zoology.

Parador de Almagro

The Parador de Almagro, also known as the Convento de Santa Catalina de Siena, is a four-star Parador hotel located in the town of Almagro, in the province of Ciudad Real, in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It was converted from the ruins of the seventeenth century Franciscan Convent of Santa Catalina. It was irretrievably damaged during the Spanish Civil War. In 1969 it was ceded to the Spanish government for conversion into a Parador. Work on the rebuilding and conversion began in 1972.

Félix Gaffiot

Félix Gaffiot est un philologue et professeur français, né le à Liesle, mort le à Besançon. Il est l'auteur d'un dictionnaire latin-français de référence, le Gaffiot. Félix Gaffiot naît à Liesle, dans la vallée de la Loue. Il est fils d'un instituteur et d'une secrétaire de mairie. Orphelin de père à , il entre au lycée de Pontarlier grâce à une bourse municipale. Bachelier en sciences et lettres, il hésite à préparer le concours d'admission à l'école Polytechnique, mais s'oriente finalement vers une licence en lettres.

Sylvie Boldo

Sylvie Boldo is a French mathematician and computer scientist. Her research combines automated theorem proving and computer arithmetic, focusing on the formal verification of floating-point arithmetic operations and of algorithms based on them. She is a director of research for the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA), affiliated with the Formal Methods Laboratory at Paris-Saclay University and the INRIA Saclay-Île-de-France Research Centre, where she co-leads the Toccata project for formally verified programs, certified tools and numerical computations.

Paul Vaillant-Couturier

Paul Couturier, connu sous le pseudonyme de Paul Vaillant-Couturier, né le à Paris et mort le dans la même ville, est un écrivain, journaliste et homme politique français. Il a participé à la fondation du Parti communiste français.
