Stability of a Point Charge for the Vlasov–Poisson System: The Radial Case

Résumé

We consider the Vlasov–Poisson system with repulsive interactions. For initial data a small, radial, absolutely continuous perturbation of a point charge, we show that the solution is global and disperses to infinity via a modified scattering along trajectories of the linearized flow. This is done by an exact integration of the linearized equation, followed by the analysis of the perturbed Hamiltonian equation in action-angle coordinates.

A class of Neumann type systems and its application

A class of Neumann type systems are derived separating the spatial and temporal variables for the 2+1 dimensional Caudrey-Dodd-Gibbon-Kotera-Sawada (CDGKS) equation and the modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) hierarchy. The Lax-Moser matrix of Neumann type systems is worked out, which generates a sequence of integrals of motion and a hyperelliptic curve of KdV type. We deduce the constrained Hamiltonians to put Neumann type systems into canonical Hamiltonian equations and further complete the Liouville integrability for the Neumann type systems. We also specify the relationship between Neumann type systems and infinite dimensional integrable systems (IDISs), where the involutivity solutions of Neumann type systems yield the finite parametric solutions of IDISs. From the Abel-Jacobi variables, the evolution behavior of Neumann type flows are shown on the Jacobian of a Riemann surface. Finally, the Neumann type flows are applied to produce some explicit solutions expressed by Riemann theta functions for the 2+1 dimensional CDGKS equation and the mKdV hierarchy.

Mass-Energy threshold dynamics for dipolar Quantum Gases

We consider a Gross-Pitaevskii equation which appears as a model in the description of dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates, without a confining external trapping potential. We describe the asymptotic dynamics of solutions to the corresponding Cauchy problem in the energy space in different configurations with respect to the mass-energy threshold, namely for initial data above and at the mass-energy threshold. We first establish a scattering criterion for the equation that we prove by means of the concentration/compactness and rigidity scheme. This criterion enables us to show the energy scattering for solutions with data above the mass-energy threshold, for which only blow-up was known. We also prove a blow-up/grow-up criterion for the equation with general data in the energy space. As a byproduct of scattering and blow-up criteria, and the compactness of minimizing sequences for the Gagliardo-Nirenberg's inequality, we study long time dynamics of solutions with data lying exactly at the mass-energy threshold.
