Optimization of the Motors for the Control of the CVT Servo-Pumps

Abstract

The aim of this project is the design and the optimization of the electrical motors used in the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system currently under development at JTEKT, an automotive part supplier company. Two motors are needed for the control of the pumps providing the pressures to the hydraulic circuit of the CVT. According to the operating conditions of such a system, a brushless DC (BLDC) motor, known for its high reliability, good thermal evacuation and high efficiency, has been chosen.
